Along County Road 5A, at the headwaters of Seneca Lake, are rare blue heron nesting grounds. These treetop nests are visible at the junction of Marion Township Road 218 and County Road 5A.

At the spot also is the former Samual Danford farm, Methodist Episcopal Church, an old grist mill and cemetery. All are on the National Register of Historic Places. The original house was built in 1806 and the present house in 1833. The mill was built in 1915 and the church in 1869 with it's last service conducted in 1905. Approximately five miles north of Summerfield. Active farm. Not open to public.

Nearby is the Glady Run School, a one-room school house that has been maintained. Coming into Summerfield, part of a tunnel from the old narrow gauge railroad is visible. It is in the vicinity that Lew Wetzel is said to have rescued Rose Forrester after her capture by the Indians. More recently, Amish have been moving into the area.
