The homestead of the family of Johnny Appleseed is located one forth mile south of Dexter City on SR 821. The Johnny Appleseed Monument is made of small rocks and stones contributed by people throughout the United States. Parley Chapman, half-brother of Johnny Appleseed, and family are buried nearby.

 The Dexter City School building is converted to an antique mall and auction house. It has antiques of all kinds with many dealers.
